Brief
We were tasked with redesigning the ground floor layout of this large semi-detached Victorian house in London and creating clever storage to discreetly hide the clutter.
Design
Moving the stairs into an additional extension to the side of the house and adding a boot room in this area opened up the hallway to create a sense of grandeur and arrival that immediately set the tone and scale of the house. Over-sized tessellated floor tiles and a sight line through the Crittall doors to the garden helped to create what feels like a vast and airy space. Calm earthy tones with accents of red in the main living spaces are the perfect foil for the family’s collection of heirloom artworks and antiques, while richer colours are used on the bespoke joinery to create depth and energy. We sourced elegant furniture to complement the scheme which cleverly blends mid-century silhouettes with the Victorian architecture.
Client
A busy, sporting family and their large dog.
It has been an absolute pleasure working with Ali and Alex to achieve our dream home. We love our house and how it feels and embodies our spirit. Ali and Alex took time to understand what we wanted to achieve, were flexible, patient and encouraging with us as we went through our own journey of discovering what we liked. They have a wonderful gift in working with colour, fabric and texture which can be seen in all their designs, irrespective of palette. Ali and Alex handled everything very professionally and flexed their time to fit in with our project. We couldn’t recommend them enough.
