Brief
To create a comfortable and welcoming guest bedroom and design an inviting and well-organised grown-up “den” in the natural basement of this delightful six-bedroom late Victorian home in South West London.
Design
The owners’ charming antique pieces of furniture and the beautiful light in this space inspired an airy, colonial style in the guest bedroom. We brought in luxurious bed linens, dressings and window treatments, and commissioned bespoke foxed mirrors to flank the bed and create the illusion of space. In the basement we reconfigured the layout and introduced bespoke furniture, joinery and furnishings to create a comfortable hang-out for watching television and having parties. We designed the statement wall storage with concealed lighting to highlight the family’s artefacts from their trips to Africa and draw attention away from the television when not in use. We also created a utility room come bar area and a new downstairs cloakroom in this space.
