Double-Fronted Battersea Townhouse

Brief

Having lived in the house for 16 years, our clients needed their home to reflect the new maturity of the family and their evolving needs, creating an effortless backdrop to this next stage of their lives.

Design

To give them renewed energy, living spaces were repurposed to enhance the way in which our clients now use their home. Their rarely-used dining room has become a colourful library and television room for all the family to relax, entertain and play cards. Removing the wall between existing living areas drenches the ground floor in natural light and the redundant playroom has become a refined adult space in which to enjoy an aperitif with views across the garden. The palette of each space creates different moods while remaining in harmony. We commissioned an extensive package of bespoke joinery in the library room, children’s bedrooms, bathroom and guest bedroom; designed with pull-out drinks shelves in the library, contrast coloured interiors and rattan wardrobe fronts. Fabrics determined most of the room schemes and we greatly enjoyed working closely with the client to listen to her and help to draw out her creativity.
